U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Rolando Antonio Rosado, a 59-year-old from the Dominican Republic, has pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry after deportation. The plea was entered before Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford in Rochester, New York. Following his guilty plea, Rosado was sentenced to time served and transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan K. McGuire provided details of the case, stating that an immigration judge ordered Rosado's removal in June 2000, but he did not comply with the order. In October 2003, Rosado was arrested by the Rochester Police Department for Criminal Possession of a Weapon and subsequently removed from the United States in April 2004.
Despite his removal, Rosado illegally re-entered the United States near Laredo, Texas in 2014. He was later found in the Western District of New York on September 26, 2024.
The investigation leading to Rosado's plea and sentencing was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations under Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan.
