NFIB supports new act to aid independent auto repair shops

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has expressed its support for the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act, a legislative proposal introduced by Representative Neal Dunn. This bipartisan bill aims to provide independent auto repair shops with access to the same tools, software, and manuals that manufacturers and authorized service centers use.

Andrea McGee, NFIB Principal of Federal Government Relations, emphasized the significance of the REPAIR Act: “The REPAIR Act is a much-needed piece of bipartisan legislation to increase competition in the automotive repair industry and keep money in consumers’ pockets.” She highlighted that many businesses in rural areas rely on local independent vehicle repair or aftermarket parts shops. Without these options, consumers would face increased expenses and time away from their businesses.

McGee also expressed gratitude towards Rep. Dunn and Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez for introducing this legislation, which addresses issues affecting small businesses across various industries.

NFIB has been advocating for small and independent business owners in Washington, D.C., and state capitals nationwide for 80 years. As a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1943, NFIB remains dedicated to supporting small businesses.
