Linda Moore, President and CEO of TechNet, a bipartisan network representing innovation economy leaders, has called on President Trump to prioritize American innovation in his upcoming address to Congress. Moore emphasized the importance of policies that will enhance the United States' competitive position amid rapid global technological advancements.

Moore stated, "TechNet is focused on policies that will strengthen America’s competitive edge during this unprecedented time of global technological advancement." She expressed hope that President Trump's agenda would support U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence (AI), encourage favorable tax laws for innovation, attract top talent globally, enact comprehensive federal privacy legislation, and establish trade policies protecting American businesses internationally.

Highlighting AI's transformative potential, Moore remarked on its ability to address significant challenges and improve lives across sectors. She urged support for science-based standards to deploy responsible AI while maintaining U.S. leadership in its development.

Addressing tax policy during the budget reconciliation process, Moore urged preservation of the 21% corporate tax rate established by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA). She advocated for permanent reinstatement of business deductions for R&D expenses and capital investments in their incurred year, extension of the advanced manufacturing investment credit under the CHIPS and Science Act, and reinstatement of the 1099-K reporting threshold to $20,000.

Moore stressed the necessity of attracting high-skilled global talent to maintain America's technological edge. Citing President Trump’s words: "We want these exceptional students and workers to stay, flourish, and thrive in America."

On data privacy law reform, she noted existing conflicting state laws could cost over $1 trillion in a decade according to ITIF reports. A unified federal data privacy law is needed for consumer protection and business certainty.

TechNet released a federal policy agenda detailing strategies such as leading in AI globally, recruiting top talent worldwide, investing in STEM education domestically, enacting supportive tax laws for innovation, ensuring consumer protection with comprehensive data privacy legislation, empowering American companies abroad through strategic trade policies, supporting new workforce models innovatively, and promoting future mobility initiatives.
