A Birmingham man has been sentenced to 57 months in prison for illegal firearm possession. U.S. District Judge Anna M. Manasco handed down the sentence to Keundre Levelle Brown, age 25, following his guilty plea.
The case stems from an incident on October 11, 2023, when a Birmingham Police Officer responded to a shooting report at a local motel. Brown was found alone in a room with signs of gunfire and had a loaded Taurus G2C pistol in his waistband. The gun was reported stolen about a year prior in Birmingham.
Brown's previous felony convictions for theft, burglary, and robbery make him legally prohibited from possessing firearms. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Birmingham Police Department.
"U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona" and "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Nashville Field Division Acting Special Agent in Charge Jason Stankiewicz" announced the sentencing decision. Assistant U.S. Attorney W. Lee Gilmer prosecuted the case.
