Former Wellsville resident indicted for child pornography charges

A federal grand jury has indicted Jason Goodsell, 39, formerly of Wellsville, NY, on charges related to the production and distribution of child pornography. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo in Rochester, New York.

Goodsell faces seven counts of producing child pornography and one count of distributing such material. The charges entail a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and could lead to a maximum sentence of up to 225 years in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Rudroff explained that between June 1, 2020, and December 2, 2021, Goodsell allegedly coerced a minor into sexually explicit conduct to create visual depictions. Additionally, between June 1 and June 30, 2022, he is accused of distributing the illicit images he produced.

Goodsell appeared for arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder Jr., where he was detained.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation under Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia and the Wellsville Police Department led by Chief Timothy O’Grady. Further assistance came from the FBI's Pittsburgh Office.
