A Lame Deer resident, Geofredo James Littlebird, Jr., has been sentenced to over 16 years in prison for his involvement in methamphetamine trafficking and firearm possession. The U.S. Attorney's Office announced that Littlebird, aged 40, will also face five years of supervised release following his prison term.
Littlebird admitted guilt in November 2024 to charges of possession with intent to distribute meth and possessing a firearm in connection with drug trafficking activities. U.S. District Judge Susan P. Watters presided over the case.
Federal law enforcement, working alongside local and tribal authorities, conducted a large-scale investigation across multiple states focused on properties within the Crow Indian Reservation. These properties were identified as key supply points for meth distributed on both the Crow and Northern Cheyenne reservations. Littlebird was implicated as a central figure in this operation, distributing drugs from a residence on Northern Cheyenne land and orchestrating distribution efforts on the Crow reservation.
The investigation revealed that starting in 2022, authorities became aware of Littlebird's drug activities through several controlled purchases made by confidential sources. During these transactions, firearms were often present alongside the drugs being sold. Subsequent searches of Littlebird's home led to the discovery of evidence supporting drug distribution activities, including multiple firearms and body armor.
This conviction marks Littlebird's second federal felony related to drug offenses; he previously served a decade-long sentence following a 2010 conviction for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
The prosecution was handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with investigative efforts from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and FBI under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF). OCDETF aims to dismantle major criminal organizations posing threats to national security through coordinated efforts among various agencies.
