The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs has announced a reward offer of up to $10 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of Canadian narcotics trafficker Ryan James Wedding. This initiative is part of the Narcotics Rewards Program (NRP) and is coordinated with the governments of Canada and Mexico.
The FBI has also added Wedding to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitive List. Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder who competed for Canada in the 2002 Winter Olympics, turned to drug trafficking after his sports career. He is believed to be residing in Mexico.
Wedding and another Canadian were initially charged with running a criminal enterprise, murder, and cocaine-related offenses. While his co-conspirator was arrested by Mexican law enforcement on October 8, 2024, and transferred to the United States on February 27, 2025, Wedding remains at large.
A first superseding indictment unsealed on October 16, 2024, included charges against 14 additional individuals. The indictment alleges that from January to August 2024, Wedding and others conspired to transport large quantities of cocaine from Southern California to Canada through a network based in Ontario. The drugs were moved from Mexico to Los Angeles before being sent north using long-haul trucks.
The indictments further claim that Wedding's organization used violence to achieve its goals. This includes murders committed in November 2023 in Ontario as retaliation for a stolen drug shipment and another killing in May 2024 over a drug debt.
Currently, only two individuals named in these indictments remain fugitives: Wedding and one other co-conspirator.
This reward offer aims to support global law enforcement efforts against transnational crime by bringing fugitives like Wedding to justice. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact the FBI or RCMP via phone or messaging apps such as WhatsApp at 424-495-0614. Those outside the U.S. can reach out to their nearest embassy or consulate for assistance.
"ALL IDENTITIES ARE KEPT STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL," states the announcement while clarifying that government officials are not eligible for rewards.
