A man from Clear Lake, Iowa, has pled guilty to charges of producing and distributing child pornography in federal court in Sioux City. David Bradley Garrison, aged 43, was convicted of sexual exploitation of a child and distribution of child pornography.
During the plea hearing, Garrison admitted to sexually exploiting a child in July 2021 by creating a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He also confessed to distributing visual depictions of child pornography between June and August 2021.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program brings together resources from federal, state, and local levels to prosecute individuals who exploit children and to rescue victims. Sentencing will take place before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand after the preparation of a presentence report. Garrison is currently held by the United States Marshal pending sentencing. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and could receive up to 50 years in prison, along with fines totaling $500,000, special assessments amounting to $95,200, and lifetime supervised release after imprisonment.
The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Devra T. Hake and Dillan Edwards. The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation, and Rockwell Police Department.
