Tyree Eugene Rideaux, a 31-year-old from Henderson, Nevada, has been sentenced to 132 months in prison and will face 15 years of supervised release after his imprisonment. He is also required to register as a lifetime sex offender. This sentence follows an investigation led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with significant assistance from the Mesa Police Department.
Rideaux admitted guilt to the charge of Sex Trafficking of a Minor on September 16, 2024. The case involved a minor known as Jane Doe, whom Rideaux met at a party in Phoenix before August 15, 2021. Jane Doe was taken by Rideaux and two other females to Inglewood, California, where she was instructed to pretend she was 18 years old. Once there, Rideaux placed her in an area known for prostitution and advertised her services online using a fictitious name. Jane Doe was compelled to give the money she earned back to Rideaux.
On August 15, 2021, Jane Doe managed to alert authorities by persuading a sex buyer to take her to a hospital where she contacted police and family members who facilitated her return home.
Francisco B. Burrola, ICE Homeland Security Investigations Arizona Special Agent in Charge stated: “As law enforcement officers, we are used to handling difficult encounters, but few can prepare us for working on human trafficking investigations involving vulnerable children.”
Rachel C. Hernandez, Acting United States Attorney remarked: “Predators who traffic in teenagers and force them into prostitution to support the trafficker’s own lifestyle are deserving of the harshest sentences.” She praised the diligent efforts of law enforcement partners and prosecutors that led to this outcome.
Burrola further emphasized HSI's commitment stating: “HSI is committed to ensuring sex traffickers face the fullest extent of the law by putting them behind bars for years – significant prison time rightly awaits this trafficker.”
The investigation was conducted by ICE HSI while prosecutions were handled by the United States Attorney’s Office in Phoenix.
