A man from St. Charles Parish, Darryl Davis, has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced the plea on February 27, 2025. Davis, aged 30, admitted to violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1).
The investigation began after agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) reviewed Davis's social media posts about firearms. It was revealed that Davis had two prior felony convictions and was aware he was not allowed to possess a firearm. He was arrested on August 14, 2024, with a Glock Model 43X nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol and ammunition.
Davis could face up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee. His sentencing is set for May 27, 2025.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence by uniting law enforcement at all levels with communities. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021.
