Federal grand jury indicts ten on immigration-related charges

A federal grand jury in Huntsville has indicted ten individuals on charges related to immigration violations, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Homeland Security Investigations Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Steven N. Schrank.

Nine of the defendants face charges for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. These individuals include Eusebio Cruz-Zurita, 29, Rufino Cristobal-Reyes, 41, Edgar Esmain Rivas-Martinez, 37, Rigoberto Tzun-Garcia, 34, Eleazar Suarez-Salinas, 42, Rodolfo Cantu-Navarrete, 45, Albert Obel Figueroa-Figueroa, 40, Juan Gomez-Marquires (also known as Diego Torrez-Tadeo), 33, and Maximiliano Pablo-Cinto, 40.

Additionally, Karim Arguello-Barraza, 22, is charged with being an alien in possession of a firearm.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys from the Northern District of Alabama are not only prosecuting these cases but also providing ongoing training to attorneys and law enforcement partners. This training aims to enhance their ability to investigate and prosecute immigration offenses in federal court.

It is important to note that an indictment contains only charges and that each defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
