Mexican national charged with child sex offenses after federal arrest

Federal agents have arrested Giovanni Falcon, a 40-year-old Mexican national from University City, on charges related to illegal sexual activity with a minor. Falcon was indicted on February 26, 2025, in the U.S. District Court in St. Louis for two felonies: transfer of obscene material to a minor and coercion and enticement of a minor.

According to the indictment, between July 26 and August 12, 2024, Falcon allegedly used the internet to expose himself to a minor. He is also accused of coercing a minor into unlawful sexual activity from January 1 to August 12, 2024.

Falcon appeared in court on Monday and entered a plea of not guilty. A motion has been filed seeking his detention until trial due to concerns that he is not legally present in the country and may pose a flight risk if released.

The charges against Falcon are accusations at this stage; he remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The coercion charge carries potential penalties ranging from ten years to life imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. The charge for transferring obscene material could result in up to ten years in prison along with the same financial penalty.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations alongside the St. Ann Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jillian Anderson is handling the prosecution.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide by coordinating federal, state, and local resources for effective prosecution and victim rescue efforts.
