Michele Beckwith Acting U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California
Isaias Aroldo Contreras, a 26-year-old resident of Sacramento, has pleaded guilty to charges related to fentanyl trafficking. Acting United States Attorney Michele Beckwith made the announcement following Contreras's admission of possession with intent to distribute the drug.
Court documents reveal that law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at Contreras’s home in Folsom in January 2023. During this operation, authorities confiscated 992 pills laced with fentanyl, disguised as oxycodone "M-30" pills. Additionally, they found a loaded Glock 9mm pistol, over $31,000 in cash identified as drug proceeds, a money counter, and various pieces of custom diamond jewelry including a Rolex watch adorned with full-cut diamonds. Messages on Contreras's cell phone indicated communications from March 2020 through December 2022 between him and drug suppliers and customers about purchasing and selling counterfeit M-30 pills and cocaine in large quantities.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration with support from Homeland Security Investigations and the Sacramento Area Intelligence/Narcotics Task Force (SAINT). Assistant United States Attorney David W. Spencer is handling the prosecution.
Contreras is set to be sentenced by Judge William B. Shubb on May 27, 2025. He faces up to 40 years in prison; however, the actual sentence will be determined based on statutory factors and Federal Sentencing Guidelines which consider various elements. As part of his plea agreement, Contreras has agreed to forfeit $31,154 in cash along with several pieces of seized jewelry.
This case falls under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative which targets high-level criminal organizations posing threats to the United States through a coordinated multi-agency approach led by prosecutors.
