Milton man sentenced to nearly three decades for producing child pornography

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has announced the sentencing of Robert A. Kohl, a 50-year-old resident of Northumberland County, PA. On March 7, 2025, Chief U.S. District Court Judge Matthew W. Brann sentenced Kohl to 336 months in prison followed by ten years of supervised release for the production of child pornography.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Kohl had previously pleaded guilty on September 11, 2024, to producing child pornography. The charges stemmed from a search warrant executed at Kohl's residence on January 3, 2023, following a cyber tip-off. The forensic examination of several electronic devices led to the discovery of thousands of images containing child sexual abuse material, including a video involving a four-year-old child. Kohl was found to have produced child pornography on five separate occasions between August 2021 and September 2022.

During the court proceedings, multiple family members of the victims addressed the court to express how devastating this crime has been for both the victim and their family.

The investigation was conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation with Assistant United States Attorney Alisan V. Martin prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. This project coordinates federal, state, and local resources to apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children while also working to identify and rescue victims.
