Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, has announced the appointment of Troy Edgar as the United States Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Edgar previously served as DHS's Chief Financial Officer during President Trump's first administration and is reappointed by President Trump.
"Troy served as DHS’s Chief Financial Officer in President Trump’s first Administration and is entrusted by President Trump once again," said Noem. She emphasized Edgar's background, noting that he is "a proud Navy veteran" with over 35 years of experience in business and executive roles across various industries, including government.
Noem expressed her enthusiasm for collaborating with Edgar to ensure national security. "I look forward to working alongside Troy to keep the more than 330 million American citizens safe and secure in our great nation," she stated. The focus will be on enforcing immigration laws, securing borders, safeguarding US cyber infrastructure, protecting America's leaders, and deterring terrorism.
The department aims to deliver quick assistance during natural disasters and support law enforcement in their duties. Noem mentioned that they would work to "remove criminal aliens and illegal gangs from our country" while equipping intelligence and law enforcement agencies to counteract terror threats effectively.
In closing, Noem expressed her anticipation for a collaborative effort with Edgar: "I look forward to working alongside Troy to ensure that the United States, once again, is a beacon of freedom, safety, and security for generations to come."
Noem invited all DHS employees to welcome Troy Edgar back to the department.
