A New Haven resident, Gregory Grant, has pleaded guilty to a methamphetamine trafficking charge. The announcement was made by Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and Ketty Larco-Ward, Inspector in Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service's Boston Division. Grant appeared before U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport.

Court documents reveal that between January 2022 and March 2024, Tyrone Brown allegedly sent parcels containing methamphetamine pills from Georgia to addresses linked to Grant in New Haven. Investigators found around 79 suspicious parcels during this period. A search in January 2023 uncovered over four kilograms of multicolored methamphetamine pills within an intercepted parcel.

Grant admitted guilt to conspiracy charges related to distributing and intending to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. This crime entails a mandatory minimum prison sentence of ten years and could result in life imprisonment. Sentencing is scheduled for June 11.

Grant has been detained since his arrest on March 27, 2024.

Tyrone Brown from Lithonia, Georgia, faces indictment but remains at large as law enforcement seeks him out. Acting U.S. Attorney Silverman reminded that "an indictment is not evidence of guilt," stressing that all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

The investigation involves the U.S. Postal Inspection Service alongside the Narcotics and Bulk Cash Trafficking Task Force with contributions from several local police departments including Hartford, Plainville, and Meriden Police Departments. The prosecution is handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nathaniel J. Gentile and Jocelyn Courtney Kaoutzanis.
