U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins visited Atlanta, Georgia, where she addressed the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). During her visit, Secretary Rollins met with Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tyler Harper and other elected officials at the Georgia State Capitol. They participated in a roundtable discussion with farmers and toured a local cattle operation.
"Georgia’s farmers, ranchers, and rural communities are at the heart of American agriculture. Their insight is essential as we work to strengthen the industry for future generations," stated Secretary Rollins. She emphasized the importance of infrastructure and resources for prosperity and acknowledged NRECA's role in these efforts. "USDA remains committed to supporting Georgia agriculture and rural communities across the country as we step into the Golden Age of America under President Trump’s leadership."
Secretary Rollins started her day by delivering remarks at PowerXchange, NRECA's annual meeting, highlighting USDA's ongoing support for electric cooperatives in revitalizing rural areas nationwide.
Following her speech, she proceeded to meet with state officials to discuss agricultural priorities in Georgia.
Her itinerary included a visit to the University of Georgia’s Iron Horse Plant Sciences Farm for a roundtable discussion on issues such as avian flu control, global market expansion, and Farm Bill priorities with local farmers. The day concluded with a tour of Precise Cattle, a family-owned farm in Watkinsville.
