U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration, has apprehended a 28-year-old Brazilian fugitive in Medfield, Massachusetts. The individual is wanted in Brazil for illegal firearm possession and making threats.

"The apprehension of this Brazilian fugitive underscores ICE’s commitment to ensuring the safety of our New England communities," stated Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. "This fugitive attempted to flee justice in Brazil and take refuge in Massachusetts while presenting a significant threat to our residents. We will not allow New England to become a safe haven for the world’s criminal elements."

The Brazilian national entered the United States without inspection or authorization on an unspecified date and location. Brazilian authorities had issued an arrest warrant on September 21, 2022, citing charges related to threats and illegal firearm possession, which could result in a maximum sentence of 12-and-a-half years.

Following his arrest, ICE served him with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge and initiated removal proceedings. He remains detained by ICE.

The public is encouraged to report crimes or suspicious activities through the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or via their online tip form.
