Hugo resident pleads guilty to firearm and child exploitation charges

Chayse Anthony Beard, a 24-year-old resident of Hugo, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to federal charges related to firearms and child sex abuse materials. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Beard entered a guilty plea to one count of Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and one count of Possession of Certain Material Involving the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

According to the Information, on July 17, 2024, Beard was found in possession of a Remington model SPR100 with a barrel shorter than 18 inches and an Aero Precision model X15 with specifications not meeting legal registration requirements. These firearms were not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

Furthermore, it was alleged that on the same day, Beard possessed and accessed visual depictions involving minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Durant Police Department.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Beard's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. A presentence investigation report has been ordered, and Beard remains in custody under the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.
