Dominican man receives prison sentence for illegal reentry into the US

Ramon Medina Colon, a 50-year-old man from the Dominican Republic, has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for illegally reentering the United States. The sentencing took place on March 14, 2025, under U.S. District Judge Julia K. Munley.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Medina Colon was initially ordered to leave the United States in 2007 after his first felony conviction for criminal possession of a loaded firearm. Since then, he has been removed from the country four times following various convictions including possession of stolen property, possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, resisting arrest, and multiple DUIs. In addition, Medina Colon had a prior conviction for illegal reentry into the U.S. in 2012.

The investigation was carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Lloyd handled the prosecution.
