Freeman L. Johnson, Jr., a 47-year-old resident of Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 180 months in federal prison for drug-related offenses and firearm possession. Acting United States Attorney Matthew R. Molsen announced the sentencing, which took place on March 14, 2025, in Omaha's federal court. Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. imposed a sentence of 120 months for drug charges and an additional consecutive 60 months for firearms charges.
Johnson was found guilty of distributing crack cocaine and possessing methamphetamine and crack cocaine with intent to distribute. He also faced charges for possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking activities. In addition to his prison term, $9,005 in drug proceeds were forfeited by Johnson. Following his release from prison, he will serve a five-year term of supervised release as there is no parole in the federal system.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations' Safe Streets Task Force Officers who used a cooperating source to purchase crack cocaine from Johnson on four occasions outside his residence near the 46th block of Reddick Avenue. These transactions occurred between December 14, 2023, and January 31, 2024.
Subsequent to these purchases, officers obtained a search warrant for Johnson's residence and executed it on February 8, 2024. The search resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of drugs including methamphetamine and crack cocaine, as well as two handguns and multiple boxes of ammunition.
Johnson's criminal history includes several prior felony convictions that prohibit him from possessing firearms. His past convictions include delivery of cocaine (2001), possession of cocaine (2003), and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine (2003).
