The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission has announced an open public hearing to be held in Washington, DC on April 3, 2025. The hearing is part of the Commission's mandate from Congress to evaluate and report annually on "the national security implications of the economic relationship between the United States and the People’s Republic of China."
Titled "The Rocket’s Red Glare: China’s Ambitions to Dominate Space," the hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. Members of the public can attend in person near the U.S. Capitol or watch a live webcast via the Commission's website. No reservations are required for attendance.

This session marks the fourth public hearing during the Commission's 2025 reporting cycle. It will focus on China's expanding space capabilities and their impact on U.S.-China strategic competition. Topics include China's military space capabilities, civil space activities, scientific achievements, and commercial space industry. The event will be co-chaired by Commissioner Michael Kuiken and Commissioner Cliff Sims.
Interested parties are invited to submit written statements by April 3, 2025. A segment of the hearing will feature a question-and-answer period between Commissioners and witnesses.
The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission was established by Congress in 2000 through the National Defense Authorization Act (Public Law 106–398) with subsequent amendments.
