Two residents of Monongalia County, West Virginia, have been sentenced for their involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy. Jennifer Clapper, aged 37 from Morgantown, received a sentence of 41 months in federal prison. Jamie Purtee, aged 33 and also from Morgantown, was sentenced to 60 months.
Court documents reveal that Clapper and Purtee were part of a drug trafficking organization (DTO) operating in Monongalia County. This organization illegally distributed large quantities of controlled substances over more than six years. The DTO originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where members transported between five to ten pounds of methamphetamine per trip to Morgantown. Both Clapper and Purtee acted as distributors within this operation.
Upon completion of their prison terms, both individuals will undergo three years of supervised release.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley prosecuted the cases on behalf of the government. The investigation was conducted by the Mon Metro Drug Task Force, which is funded by HIDTA.
The sentences were handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh.
