A Charlotte man, Kinte Fisher, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for trafficking significant quantities of cocaine from Charlotte to Wilmington. Fisher, aged 47, pled guilty on November 5, 2024, to possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
Court documents reveal that an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Wilmington Police Department (WPD) uncovered Fisher's operations. He maintained a "stash house" in Wilmington where he sold large amounts of cocaine after transporting them from Charlotte. Over five years, Fisher distributed at least sixty-two kilograms of cocaine using various methods including mailing narcotics through the United States Postal Service.
On July 25, 2022, surveillance captured Fisher traveling to Wilmington. After entering his stash house with a backpack and disposing of plastic wrap that tested positive for cocaine residue, law enforcement attempted a traffic stop which led to a high-speed chase. Fisher abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot but was eventually apprehended at the Wilmington Riverwalk. A search of his stash house revealed approximately 340 grams of cocaine along with drug paraphernalia.
This case was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation aimed at dismantling major drug trafficking networks in the United States through a coordinated multi-agency approach.
Daniel P. Bubar, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, announced the sentencing by U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III. The FBI collaborated with the Wilmington Police Department and New Hanover County Sheriff's Office on this case while Assistant U.S. Attorney Logan Liles prosecuted it.
