A Topsham man, Christopher Tucker, has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Portland to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing a stolen firearm. The case stems from an incident that occurred in May 2024.

Court records indicate that officers from the Brunswick Police Department responded to a report of suspicious activity at a residence. Upon arrival, they discovered an open garage door and pried-open cabinets with ammunition scattered on the floor. The homeowner informed the officers about multiple firearms stored in the locked cabinets.

Officers found a vehicle matching the description given by the witness. Tucker, 34, was identified as the owner and only occupant of the vehicle but fled on foot before being apprehended and placed into custody. Inside his vehicle, officers recovered 20 firearms. Due to past felony convictions, Tucker was prohibited from possessing firearms.

Tucker faces up to 15 years in prison and could be fined up to $250,000. Following his sentence, he may also face up to three years of supervised release. Sentencing will occur after a presentence investigative report is completed by the U.S. Probation Office. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) led the investigation with support from the Brunswick Police Department and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
