Cicero woman sentenced for role in methamphetamine distribution conspiracy

Erin Rushford, a 50-year-old former resident of Cicero, New York, has been sentenced to 25 months in prison for her involvement in a drug trafficking organization. This group was responsible for distributing methamphetamine in Onondaga County and other parts of Central New York. The announcement was made by United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Frank A. Tarentino III, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New York Division.

Rushford had previously pleaded guilty to participating in a conspiracy from February 2020 through April 2021. She admitted to transporting methamphetamine from California to the Northern District of New York for distribution purposes. As part of her role, she agreed to receive shipments of methamphetamine at her home and a relative's home, which she then delivered to other coconspirators for further distribution. Additionally, Rushford confessed to selling methamphetamine directly from her residence.

Senior United States District Judge David N. Hurd imposed an additional three-year term of supervised release following Rushford's prison sentence and ordered the forfeiture of $3,160.

The investigation into this case involved multiple agencies including the DEA, U.S. Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI), New York State Police-Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (NYSP-VGNET), Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, Syracuse Police Department, Oklahoma City Police Department, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew J. McCrobie led the prosecution.
