A Birmingham resident has entered a guilty plea to charges related to firearms and drugs, as announced by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Carlton L. Peeples.
Isiah De’Monte De’Mario Henley, 31, admitted guilt before U.S. Magistrate Judge John H. England for distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl, possessing with intent to distribute these substances, carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, possessing a machine gun, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court documents reveal that in July and August 2024, Henley conducted three sales of methamphetamine and fentanyl to a confidential informant. On August 8, 2024, after selling the drugs to an informant in Birmingham, Henley attempted to evade arrest by fleeing into a nearby house. He dropped a bag inside the residence and ran out through the front door armed with a black handgun equipped with an extended magazine. Upon exiting, he was ordered by agents to drop the weapon. Henley complied by discarding it into an overgrown vacant lot before his apprehension. The recovered firearm had been modified with a Glock switch and contained a fully loaded extended magazine. The bag left inside held 465 grams of methamphetamine and more than seven grams of fentanyl.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI in collaboration with the Vestavia Hill Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany T. Byrd is handling the prosecution.
