A Council Bluffs woman and man have been sentenced to federal prison for their involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. On March 20, 2025, Heather Lee Vore, aged 34, and Nicholas Carl Thomas, aged 42, were sentenced for their roles in facilitating the distribution of methamphetamine across Council Bluffs, Omaha, and other locations.
According to public court documents and evidence presented at the sentencing hearing, Vore was involved in sending money to a drug source located in Mexico. She also recruited others, including Thomas, to communicate with this Mexican source and send funds for methamphetamine.
Vore received her sentence on January 16, 2025. She was sentenced to ten years in prison followed by five years of supervised release. On March 20, 2025, Thomas was sentenced to twelve years in prison with an additional five-year term of supervised release. It is noted that there is no parole available within the federal system.
The announcement regarding these sentences was made by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa. The case was investigated by the Council Bluffs Police Department.
