Kevin Lewis, a 38-year-old resident of Houston, Texas, has been sentenced to eight years in prison. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge David G. Campbell on March 19, 2025. Over an eighteen-month period, these firearms were then sold primarily in California. His wife, Karra Lewis, received an 18-month prison sentence, while his brother-in-law Isaac Godfrey was sentenced to 42 months. All three were apprehended in Houston.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement and communities. The Department of Justice has reinforced this initiative with a strategy focused on building community trust and legitimacy, supporting violence prevention organizations, prioritizing strategic enforcement actions, and evaluating outcomes.
The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in Phoenix with support from ATF Houston as well as police departments in Mesa and Houston. The prosecution was managed by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona in Phoenix.
