U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Anzalduas International Bridge in Mission, Texas, intercepted a significant amount of cocaine valued at $462,700. The incident occurred on March 25 when CBP officers at the bridge's cargo facility stopped a white Ford SUV entering from Mexico for further inspection.

During the inspection, which involved nonintrusive equipment, officers discovered 14 packages of alleged cocaine weighing 34.65 pounds (15.72 kg) hidden within the vehicle. "CBP continues to safeguard our border by using all our tools and technology to thwart these smuggling attempts," stated Port Director Carlos Rodriguez of the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.

Following the discovery, CBP's Office of Field Operations seized both the narcotics and the vehicle. Homeland Security Investigations special agents have begun a criminal investigation into the matter.
