Albany resident guilty of fentanyl distribution and firearm possession

Henassy McConico, a 27-year-old resident of Albany, has entered a guilty plea for charges related to drug distribution and illegal possession of a firearm. United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Frank A. Tarentino III, the Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) New York Division, disclosed the development.

McConico confessed to distributing fentanyl pills multiple times in 2024. Notably, on October 15, 2024, he distributed approximately 485 fentanyl pills. Additionally, he admitted to possessing a loaded handgun and assorted ammunition at his residence, breaching the law due to a past conviction for attempted robbery that prohibited him from legally owning a firearm.

The court has scheduled McConico's sentencing for July 23, 2025. He faces a potential prison term ranging from a minimum of 10 years to a maximum of life. The penalties also include a possible fine of up to $8 million and a supervised release period of at least 8 years, which can extend up to life. Sentencing will be determined by a judge, considering the relevant statute, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other pertinent factors.

The DEA led the investigation, collaborating with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Hudson Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikayla Espinosa is handling the prosecution.
