Henkel Capital S.A. de C.V. has issued a voluntary recall of 1,068 units of Tec Italy Shampoo Totale due to potential contamination with Klebsiella oxytoca. This bacteria can cause infections in humans, affecting the eyes, nose, and skin, particularly impacting immunocompromised individuals.
The shampoo, distributed in the United States through New York and California distributors, may have reached other states and been sold at retail outlets. The recalled Tec Italy Shampoo Totale is identified by Lot # 1G27542266 and the UPC code 7501438375850, packaged in a 33.81 fl. oz. green plastic bottle.
The contamination was discovered following company-conducted microbiological analyses. No injuries or harm reports have been associated with these products to date. Affected consumers are advised to stop using the product and return it for a full refund. “Consumers who experience symptoms, or have any medical questions associated with this recall, should consult a physician immediately," the company advised.
