Dylan Halbur, a 32-year-old resident of Spencer, Iowa, has entered a guilty plea in federal court to charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The plea was officially recorded on March 28, 2025, at the federal court in Sioux City.
Evidence presented during the plea hearing revealed that on August 26, 2024, law enforcement officials executed a search of a camper in Spencer, Iowa, associated with Halbur. During the search, authorities discovered 45 grams of pure methamphetamine, $2,900 in cash, marijuana, a digital scale, and various items related to drug use and distribution. Halbur admitted ownership of the methamphetamine and confessed his intention to distribute some or all of it.
Sentencing for Halbur is pending and will be conducted under the supervision of United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand after the preparation of a presentence report. Currently, Halbur remains in the custody of the United States Marshal awaiting sentencing. The legal consequences for this crime include potential imprisonment for up to 20 years, a fine of up to $1,000,000, and a minimum of three years of supervised release following any jail time.
