William Brock, a 33-year-old resident of Washington D.C., has been sentenced to three years in prison for stabbing a fellow inmate at the D.C. Jail. The incident occurred on January 22, 2025, as confirmed by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Brock pleaded guilty to one count of attempted assault with a dangerous weapon on February 24, 2025. Superior Court Judge Judith Pipe has ordered that his sentence be followed by three years of supervised release.
The act of violence took place inside the D.C. Jail located at 1901 D Street, SE. Brock approached the victim, who was walking with a correctional officer, and stabbed him in the shoulder and back with a makeshift knife. The correctional officer used OC spray on Brock, prompting him to flee up the stairs. Despite attempts at apprehension, Brock eluded a corrections officer. Brock tried to pass the knife to other inmates, but upon their refusal, he discarded it on the ground and was arrested shortly thereafter.
U.S. Attorney Martin and Chief Smith recognized the efforts of the MPD and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia in investigating the case. They commended Assistant U.S. Attorneys Samuel Ison and Randy Fultz for prosecuting the case.
