Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents intercepted an attempt to smuggle cocaine at the I-35 Checkpoint. Approximately 130 pounds of the substance, with a street value of $4.1 million, was seized.
The incident occurred on the evening of March 29, when agents at the checkpoint inspected a blue tractor trailer. After receiving consent from the driver, the vehicle was passed through the Multi-Energy Portal for further inspection. With the assistance of a service canine, agents discovered 51 packages containing alleged cocaine concealed within the vehicle.
Following the discovery, the driver and the seized contraband were handed over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further legal proceedings.
