Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks with Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani in Washington, D.C. Discussions focused on the strategic partnership between the United States and Bahrain.
Secretary Rubio and Minister Al Zayani addressed key issues such as security cooperation, maritime security, and freedom of navigation in response to Houthi threats. Additionally, they affirmed their "shared commitment to peace."
Trade relations and economic cooperation in emerging technologies were also discussed. They emphasized the U.S.-Bahrain Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement and the Abraham Accords as frameworks for collaboration in diplomacy, security, and regional integration.
Both officials "reiterated both countries’ support for greater security and stability in the Middle East."
