A Mexican national living in Hudson, Massachusetts, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for returning illegally to the United States after being deported. Fredi Rios-Nolasco, aged 34, faces charges of unlawful reentry of a deported alien following his prior removal from the country. The indictment follows a criminal complaint filed on March 18, 2025.
Rios-Nolasco was detained by immigration authorities on March 6, 2025, after he was arrested and charged with cocaine trafficking at the Marlborough District Court. His fingerprints matched those taken during previous deportations.
The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Completing any sentence could also result in deportation for Rios-Nolasco. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley, along with Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke A. Goldworm from the Major Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution of the case.
It is important to note that the details provided in the charging documents are allegations, and the defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
