Chester County man pleads guilty to meth distribution, faces life sentence

Alexander Wright, a resident from Chester County, has admitted to distributing methamphetamine, following an investigation by several federal and local law enforcement agencies. Neighbors had initially raised suspicions, noticing unusual activity at Wright’s home which involved frequent but brief visits by multiple cars.

Law enforcement observed Wright's residence, confirming the neighbors' reports. An informant was then employed to make controlled purchases from Wright. During one such operation on June 5, 2023, the informant procured two ounces of methamphetamine from Wright under police surveillance. The purchase instructions directed the informant to collect the drugs from a car in Wright's yard and leave the payment there as well. Subsequent tests on the drugs revealed a high purity level of 96%, confirming the substance's identity as methamphetamine.

Wright is now facing severe penalties, including a potential life sentence in federal prison, a fine up to $10 million, and five years of supervised release following any imprisonment. Judge Mary Geiger Lewis accepted Wright’s guilty plea and will proceed with sentencing after reviewing a report from the U.S. Probation Office.

The investigation involved the FBI’s Columbia Field Office, the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Chester County Sheriff’s Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William K. Witherspoon.
