Today, the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Justice announced the formation of the Title IX Special Investigations Team. This initiative aims to address the increasing number of Title IX complaints. The team will ensure prompt and consistent resolutions to protect students, particularly female athletes, against the effects of gender ideology in school programs and activities.

The goal of the Title IX Special Investigations Team is to streamline investigations by creating a specialized unit of investigators from the Education Department and the Justice Department. According to the announcement, this will enable the personnel to apply a rapid resolution investigation process and prepare for possible DOJ enforcement.

Secretary of Education Linda McMahon stated, “Today’s establishment of the Title IX SIT will benefit women and girls across this nation who have been subjected to discrimination and indignity in their educational activities.” She emphasized that the Trump Administration has prioritized enforcing Title IX to protect female students and athletes.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi shared her enthusiasm for the initiative: “Protecting women and women’s sports is a key priority for this Department of Justice.” She highlighted the collaboration with the Education Department as a means to enable comprehensive action when women’s sports or spaces are threatened.

The Title IX Special Investigations Team comprises members from the ED Office for Civil Rights, DOJ Civil Rights Division, ED Office of General Counsel, and ED Student Privacy and Protection Office, with the support of an FSA Enforcement investigator.

This announcement follows President Trump’s Executive Orders, which include policies to protect female student athletes and address concerns about gender ideology in language and policy.
