Aron Williams, a 33-year-old resident of District Heights, Maryland, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for assaulting his romantic partner last year. Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. announced the sentencing today.
Williams pleaded guilty on January 27, 2025, to the charge of assault with intent to kill. The plea was entered before Judge Jason Park at the D.C. Superior Court. Judge Park assigned an additional three years of supervised release following the prison term.
The incident occurred on February 23, 2024, when an argument between Williams and the victim escalated violently. According to court evidence, Williams strangled the victim before stabbing her ten times with a hunting knife. The injuries resulted in severe bleeding and required emergency medical intervention. The victim's injuries included a cut to the wrist involving the bone and a nearly severed lip.
U.S. Attorney Martin and Chief Smith commended the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for their investigative work. They also acknowledged Assistant U.S. Attorney Callie Hyde from the Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Section for prosecuting the case.
