U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested a fugitive from the Dominican Republic wanted for homicide. The arrest took place on March 19 in Boston.
Patricia H. Hyde, the acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, commented on the operation, stating, "This Dominican fugitive attempted to undermine the justice system in his home country by hiding out in Massachusetts. We will not allow our New England communities to become safe havens for the world’s criminal elements. ICE Boston will continue to arrest and remove criminal alien offenders from our neighborhoods."
The fugitive had entered the United States illegally at an unspecified date and location without inspection or parole by a U.S. immigration official. Dominican authorities issued a criminal arrest warrant for the individual on July 4, 2017, for homicide, a crime that could lead to a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
The arrest was carried out by officials from ICE Boston, DEA New England agents, and Marshals from the USMS Boston office.
