ICE arrests fugitive wanted for homicide in Dominican Republic

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), alongside federal partners from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), have apprehended a fugitive from the Dominican Republic who was wanted for homicide. The arrest took place in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on April 3 and involved cooperation between ICE Boston, FBI Boston, and DEA New England.

Patricia H. Hyde, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston acting Field Office Director, stated, "This Dominican fugitive hoped to escape the law in his native country by hiding out in Massachusetts. We will now return him to the Dominican Republic to face the justice system there. We refuse to allow New England to become a safe haven for the world’s criminal elements. ICE Boston will continue to arrest and remove criminal alien offenders from our communities."

The fugitive had entered the United States without legal inspection, admission, or parole by a U.S. immigration official. Dominican authorities issued a warrant for his arrest on April 30, 2018, for a homicide charge that could lead to a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

The collaborative action highlights the ongoing efforts of ICE and its partners to address criminal activities and ensure public safety.

The public is encouraged to report any crimes or suspicious activities by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or by submitting information through the online tip form. Further updates on ICE's mission can be found on their social media platform on X: @EROBoston.
