North Attleboro man receives five-year sentence for child exploitation and animal abuse charges

A North Attleboro man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for his involvement in child sexual abuse material and animal abuse video charges, federal authorities announced. Samuel E. Maigret, 29, faced the sentence handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Mary S. McElroy, following his guilty plea on April 30, 2024.

Maigret was charged with distribution and possession of child pornography, among other offenses. The federal sentence includes 10 years of supervised release after the prison term. There was no plea agreement filed in the case.

The investigation began with a court-authorized search in September 2021 at Maigret’s residence in Pawtucket, where authorities found approximately 3,000 videos and images of child sexual abuse material on his devices. These included disturbing content involving adults with infants and evidence showing Maigret’s distribution activities online.

The case was presented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise M. Barton and arose from Project Safe Childhood, an initiative by the Department of Justice launched in May 2006. This initiative combats child sexual exploitation and includes the combined efforts of federal, state, and local resources.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations alongside the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
