United States Attorney’s Office commemorates National Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Mobile, Alabama

Sean P. Costello U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama

The United States Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Alabama is observing National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW) from April 6 to 12, 2025. As part of the commemoration, the office is participating in the Victim Vigil and Information Fair on the evening of April 10 at the Mobile Government Plaza Atrium.

The theme for this year's NCVRW, "Connecting-Kinship-Healing," emphasizes the importance of building strong connections among victims, survivors, law enforcement, advocates, and communities. The week serves as a reminder of the ongoing effort to dismantle barriers preventing justice and support for victims and survivors.

United States Attorney Sean P. Costello stated, "Crime Victims’ Rights Week serves as reminder to all of us working in the public safety and criminal justice systems why we serve our communities. This year’s 44th NCVRW marks decades of progress in improving the legal standing of crime victims and expanding their access to services."

NCVRW was initiated in 1981 to honor those affected by crime, promote awareness of victims' rights and services, and acknowledge the commitment of those who assist crime victims.

The event is open to the public and the media.
