Hugo residents plead guilty to transporting stolen goods across state lines

Matthew Carl Wilson and Candice Marie Logan, residents of Hugo, Oklahoma, have pleaded guilty to a charge of interstate transport of stolen goods, as reported by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Both individuals admitted to the charge in court and face a potential maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison.

The indictment stated that on January 16, 2024, Wilson and Logan moved stolen industrial radio equipment valued at or above $5,000 across state lines from Hugo, Oklahoma, to Paris, Texas. It is alleged that they knew the equipment was acquired through theft, conversion, and fraud.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department, and the Paris, Texas Police Department conducted a joint investigation that led to these charges.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson, from the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the pleas during the hearing. The court has requested the preparation of presentence investigation reports.

The eventual sentence will be decided by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal considerations. Until sentencing, Wilson and Logan will remain in the care of the United States Marshals Service.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacob R. Parker handled the case for the United States.
