Jerry Lana Freeman, also known as Lil' Jerry, was sentenced to 224 months in prison for his involvement in a drug conspiracy. Freeman, aged 33 and a resident of Hugo, Oklahoma, faced the charges following an investigation by several law enforcement bodies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation; the Hugo Police Department; and the Durant Police Department.
Freeman pleaded guilty on September 16, 2024. The investigation found that from June 16, 2023, to July 17, 2024, Freeman conspired with others to possess and distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine, classified as a Schedule II controlled substance.
"ATF remains committed to working with our law enforcement partners to keep illegal substances out of our communities and investigating those responsible," stated ATF Special Agent in Charge Bennie Mims, emphasizing the serious repercussions of drug offenses.
Eduardo A. Chavez, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Dallas Field Division, remarked, "This sentence is a message to all drug traffickers who put methamphetamine on our streets." Chavez highlighted the importance of holding such offenders accountable to improve neighborhood safety.
Christopher J. Wilson, United States Attorney, emphasized the determination of the U.S. Attorney’s Office to prosecute those distributing illegal narcotics in the region. He noted, "Methamphetamine continues to plague families and communities, and through the cooperative work of law enforcement our goal is to hold offenders accountable for the misery their actions cause."
Freeman's sentencing was overseen by Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Freeman is awaiting transportation to a United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his sentence, during which he is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
The prosecution in this case was led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joshua Satter and Rachel Geizura.
