Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held a meeting in Washington. The discussion focused on strengthening the bilateral relationship between the United States and Uzbekistan. According to Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, the meeting reaffirmed "U.S. support for Uzbekistan’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and growing U.S.-Uzbekistan ties."
During the meeting, Secretary Rubio expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan's decision to join the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. He also acknowledged the efforts made by Uzbekistan to facilitate the return of their deportees from the United States.
Looking towards the future, the United States anticipates collaboration with Uzbekistan on various fronts. This includes the enhancement of safe nuclear energy technologies and boosting investments between the two nations. Additionally, there are plans to promote cooperation in critical minerals and other sectors, further strengthening the strategic partnership between the countries.
