Browning attorney in court facing multiple sex abuse charges

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

A Browning attorney, Nathan Nicholas Johnson St. Goddard, appeared in court for arraignment on sexual abuse charges, according to U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme. The 44-year-old is facing charges of aggravated sexual abuse, sexual abuse, abusive sexual contact, and making a false statement. St. Goddard entered a not guilty plea to the charges.

If found guilty of the most serious offense, St. Goddard could face life imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and a minimum of five years of supervised release. The proceedings were overseen by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris, who released St. Goddard under conditions pending further legal action.

The indictment accuses St. Goddard of using force and threats to engage in sexual acts without the consent of Jane Doe on June 22, 2024. It also alleges that he provided false information to the FBI. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office with investigative efforts from the FBI, Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services, and Glacier County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities stress that the charges are accusations and St. Goddard is considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
