Okemah resident admits guilt in federal meth distribution case

Jeffrey Gilbert Franklin, Jr., a resident of Okemah, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal drug crime. Franklin, 49, admitted to possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. He faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a fine that could reach $1 million.

The indictment charged Franklin with the possession of methamphetamine on April 25, 2024, a Schedule II controlled substance, intending to distribute it. The investigation was conducted by the Okemah Police Department and the FBI.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Franklin's plea in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. He has ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed. A U.S. District Court Judge will later determine the sentence based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.

Meanwhile, Franklin is held in custody by the U.S. Marshals Service pending sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael E. Robinson is representing the government.
