U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry in Texas seized multiple weapons, ammunition, magazines, and weapon components within a 72-hour period during outbound operations. The seizures took place over a weekend and illustrated CBP's ongoing efforts to secure the U.S.-Mexico border.

Port Director Liliana Flores highlighted the officers' dedication and the importance of these efforts, stating, “These significant seizures serve as a resounding reminder of the hard work and dedication put forth by our officers on a daily basis. These types of seizures perfectly illustrate CBP’s resolute commitment to securing our shared border with Mexico.”

The first seizure occurred on April 4, when CBP officers conducted an inspection on a 1999 Chevy Express van heading to Mexico. The inspection, involving both nonintrusive scanning and a canine unit, revealed five weapons, 260 rounds of ammunition, 14 magazines, and additional components in the vehicle. The Texas Department of Public Safety arrested the driver and launched a criminal investigation.

The second incident happened on April 6, when officers inspected a 2002 Dodge Ram truck, also traveling toward Mexico. This inspection uncovered four weapons and 10 magazines hidden within the vehicle. Following this discovery, Homeland Security Investigations special agents began a criminal investigation.

CBP serves as America's primary border security agency, operating as the nation's largest law enforcement body. The organization focuses on ensuring secure, lawful travel and trade to maintain economic and national security.
